Michael L. Moore practices in Orlando, Florida, the city where he spent his formative years. He credits the trauma of having his brother murdered when he was only 10 years old, as the catalyst that drew him into the practice of law.
Moore attended Florida State University, where he was a member of the FSU debate team. Upon graduating, he was awarded a full scholarship to attend the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he was elected President of the Student Bar Association. He further honed his advocacy and public speaking skills by participating in ‘moot court’ competitions.
After clerking at the Tennessee Attorney General’s office while in law school, Moore moved back to Orlando, Florida, to work at the State Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor, and where he was fortunate enough to meet the young lady that would eventually become his wife. Moore moved on to working for private law firms, both local and national, and eventually established his own law firm in 1999. He continues to make Orlando his home base.
It was the murder of a close friend and client in Jamaica that caused Moore to realize that books on laws in other countries were few and far between, and he was inspired to create Law of the Land Publishing.
Moore launched Law of the Land Publishing to provide a series of guidebooks and a membership site for tourists and business travelers to stay up to date on the laws in each country they travel to, as well as having access to information on medical and legal assistance if they run into issues.
“My vision is to educate business travelers and tourists on what their basic legal rights are, and how they can access both legal assistance and emergency medical care, wherever they travel to in the world.” said Moore. “As Americans, we have a right to due process, but in some countries, you don’t even have the right to access a square meal when incarcerated.
My goal is to provide the information needed to stay out of trouble, as well as having access to assistance if trouble finds you.”
